The Kodak 35mm Project
The 35mm Project is a Kodak-sponsored grant enabling students to produce a 35mm short film and collaborate with notable film industry professionals, who will serve as project mentors. Kodak’s 35mm Project gives student filmmakers the opportunity to experience filmmaking using the same tools as industry professionals with gifts and services provided by Eastman Kodak, Mole-Richardson, Clairmont Camera, Fotokem Laboratories, J.L. Fisher Inc., Laser Pacific, Dolby Laboratories, Inc., Mix Magic Post Sound, Todd A/O Lantana, and NT Audio Video Film Labs.

Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to aspiring filmmakers, Technicolor has established the Technicolor Thesis Award at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television in Los Angeles.

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation
The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation has been giving production and screenwriting grants to filmmakers since 1997. The Sloan Film Program, led by Program Director Doron Weber, supports the creation of realistic and entertaining stories about science and technology, many of which challenge existing stereotypes about scientists and engineers.

The Foundation gives grants to students at six of the nation’s leading film schools: American Film Institute, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia University School of the Arts, New York University, UCLA, and the University of Southern California. The Sloan Foundation also gives awards to completed films and scripts in development at the Hamptons International Film Festival, the Sundance Institute, and the Tribeca Film Institute.
The Sloan Foundation has supported nearly 200 film projects, by emerging new voices such as Shane Carruth (Primer) and Ryan Eslinger (Madness and Genius), and by established directors such as Bill Condon (Kinsey) and Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man).

A growing number of completed student films supported by Sloan Foundation grants can be viewed in their entirety at http://scienceandfilm.org. For more information, please visit the Sloan Foundation’s website.

The Technicolor Digital Intermediate Grant
